Devils Sweep Green River 3-0

October 25, 2024 – Longview, WA

In front of a lively home crowd of 315 at Myklebust Gymnasium, the Lower Columbia College (LCC) Red Devils secured a decisive victory over the Green River College (GRC) Gators, sweeping the match 3-0. The Red Devils put on a powerful performance, winning each set with scores of 25-21, 25-9, and 25-23, solidifying their 8-15 season record (4-5 in conference play).

The match opened with a competitive first set, with LCC's offense guided by a balanced attack. Morgan Garrison and Samantha Farland led the way, combining for kills to keep the Red Devils ahead. The Gators, led by Tanzy Fox with a team-high 12 kills, fought hard but fell short as the Red Devils took the set 25-21.

In the second set, LCC dominated on both sides of the net. They capitalized on Green River's struggles, with the Gators managing only nine points and posting a negative hitting percentage of -0.118. Lower Columbia's Kenny Collins contributed three aces in the set, extending the Red Devils' lead and putting them in a comfortable position.

The third set saw Green River bounce back with more resilience, leading to six ties and two lead changes. However, LCC's offense remained steady, with contributions from Farland and Garrison again pushing the Red Devils ahead to close out the set 25-23 and secure the match.

LCC's balanced play was evident across all metrics, with a team hitting percentage of .262, 51 total kills, and 70 digs.

The win moves the Red Devils into a 4th place tie in the NWAC west standings with Tacoma. Next up for the LCC squad is the Pierce Raiders on Wednesday, October 30, at 6:00 pm on the home court.
