(Bellevue, WA) – Lower Columbia came out on the short end of two season-opening games at Bellevue College on Saturday February 25
th.
Bellevue had a big sixth inning, plating seven runs in an 11-3 victory over the Devils.
Down 4-2, the Devils got wild in the top of the sixth. LCC pitching gave up five walks and two hit-by-pitches which fueled the Bulldogs rally.
Teeghan Reams had an outstanding college debut as she went 3 for 3 including a solo homer.
Raychel Squibb also went deep for the Devils.
Kennedy Williams had an RBI single for LCC.
Darby DeRuyter got the start and gave up four runs in three frames.
Sadie Knutson made her Devils debut in the circle going 2 2/3 innings.
Gracie Ray got the final out to end that big Bellevue uprising.
Everett used a four run 4
th inning to defeat Lower Columbia 7-3 in the second game Saturday.
Knutson got the start and went two innings allowing just two hits.
Alli Heater struggled with her control, issuing six walks. She did have five strikeouts.
Sawyer Stenson was 3 for 3 with a homer and a double and two RBI's.
Emily Panush had the other hit as the Devils could muster just four hits of Everett pitcher Serina Penrod.
The scheduled games with Bellevue and Everett on Sunday were cancelled when a snow storm blanketed the Bellevue Field.
The Devils have added two games to the schedule for Friday March 3
rd. The D's will stop in Yakima for a double header at 1 pm. The team will then continue on to Pasco for a previously scheduled double header against Columbia Basin at 12 pm.
LCC will then complete the weekend with two games at Walla Walla on Sunday March 5
th. The first game Sunday begins at 12 pm.
