(Olympia, WA) – The Lower Columbia Red Devils suffered through a 10 minute second half lull and it cost them in a 63-60 road loss to South Puget Sound on Wednesday January 18
th.
Leading by 13 points with just under 17 minutes left, the Devils were outscored 12-3 in a ten minute span which allowed the Clippers to gain the advantage and hold on for the victory.
Emanuel Steward and
Jonah Zeller each scored 15 points to lead the way. Steward had a game-high seven assists.
Sherman Royal III scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Kaden Horn had 11 points.
Horn's three-pointer at the 16:54 mark gave LCC a 44-31 lead. That's when things got difficult and the Clippers went on the run that flipped the switch. Each team had just 10 fouls as the officials allowed both teams to bang bodies.
Jason Montes led South Puget Sound with 14 points. Free throw shooting was a big key for the Clips as they were 11 for 12 (92%). The Devils were 6 for 10 (60%).
The Devils fall to 2-1 in the West Region, 12-5 overall. It's back on the road Saturday January 21
st as the Devils take on the Pierce Raiders in Lakewood. The start time of the game was moved to 8 pm.
