Devils Draw At NWAC Friendlies

Box Score (Tukwila, WA) – The Lower Columbia women's soccer team opened the NWAC Friendlies with a 1-1 tie against Walla Walla on Tuesday August 23rd.
 
The unbeaten Devils used an early goal by Adalie Schierscher to take at 1-0 halftime lead.  The goal came on an assist from Alexandra Dolce in the 4th minute.
 
Kyla Pires was in goal in the first half and kept the clean sheet, continuing her run of six game-appearances without giving up a goal.
 
The Warriors broke through to get on the board at 47' with a goal off the post.
 
The Devils had plenty of opportunities especially in the first half including a header just wide of the mark.
 
After the Warriors equalizer, the Devils settled back into rhythm but couldn't get the game winner.
 
Lower Columbia got really strong play from freshman forward Mikaella Moreira who consistently gave Walla Walla defensive problems.
 
Chicks was pleased with the performance. "We played a great match against a top-level Walla Walla team", said Chicks.  "We dominated the first half and had our chances but give the Warriors credit and give our team credit."
 
The Devils close out the two-game Friendlies event at Starfire with a match against Spokane on Wednesday August 24th at 10:00 am.
 
Lower Columbia begins league play Wednesday August 31st with a home match against Grays Harbor, 4 pm at Northlake Field.
