(Tacoma, WA) – Last week Lower Columbia softball star
Jade Behic signed a letter-of-intent to play for the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in 2023. The PLU coaching staff got a preview of Jade's talent in a double header Wednesday March 30
th on the Lutes home field.
Behic tossed a four hitter with 10 strikeouts in the Devils 6-3 win over the PLU JV's. Behic also showed she can hit the ball with a pair of doubles.
LCC jumped on PLU with five runs in the first inning.
Ada Williams had two hits and an RBI.
Emily Panush hit a two-run triple.
The second game was shortened to six innings when the umpires had to leave for an afternoon high school game. The Devils were not allowed to hit in the top of the 7
th inning and it's a shame because LCC was making a big comeback after trailing 7-3 in the 4
th inning. The final was 8-6 Pacific Lutheran.
Darby DeRuyter came on in relief and kept the Devils in the game with 3 1/3 innings allowing just one run.
Behic was outstanding again as she went 2 for 3 with two RBI's and two runs scored. One of her hits was a homerun at her future home field.
Ada Williams also went deep and was 2 for 3 with three RBI's. It was the 13
th home run of her LCC career and all of them have been on the road.
Speaking of on the road, the Devils make the long trip to Coos Bay, Oregon for a big South Region double header against the Southwestern Oregon Lakers. The games begin at 12 pm on Saturday April 2
