Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Devils Capture the West Division Championship

(Centralia, WA) – For the LCC women's basketball team, a road victory over rival Centralia is always a good thing.  Clinching a West Region title with a win over Centralia? That's a great thing.

The Devils had to come from behind to do it.  Centralia took a 14-10 lead after the first quarter but LCC countered by outscoring the Blazers 37-20 over the next two periods.

Jazlynn Novelli provided the spark off the bench.  Novelli hit 4 of 8 shots from long distance and led LCC with 14 points.

Although the Devils struggled shooting 34 percent from the floor they steeped the defensive pressure by forcing 28 Trail Blazers turnovers.

Danica Schmidt had six points and nine rebounds.  Paige Mace had a nice game for LCC with nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

Michaela Harris scored 10, pulled four and dished three.  Chinedu Nnadi also scored in double-figures with 10 points.  Jodi Noyes filled a lot of columns with six points, seven boards, two assists and two steals.

Paige Winter led Centralia with 13 points.

The Devils have won 10 straight games to go 10-0 in league play.  With three games left in the league season, the Devils have clinched another West title and will look to finish strong before the NWAC Sweet 16 on March 18 in Everett.

The final home game of the season is this Wednesday March 2nd as the Highline Thunderbirds come to the Stoller Athletic Center for a 5:30 pm game.  The departing LCC sophomores will be honored prior to the game.
