Red Devils volleyball season comes to an end with a 3-0 (20-25, 23-25, 18-25) loss to North Idaho in the Elite Eight round of the NWAC Championships.
Lower Columbia gave it everything they had on Friday, November 18
th vs North Idaho but the Cardinals out hit the Devils .315% to .156%. North Idaho looked like they were going to run away with it in the first set getting out to 20-14 lead but LCC battled back to with in 4 at 23-19. That would be as close at it would get though with NIC taking the first set 25-20.
The Red Devils came out strong in the second set keeping the Cardinals within three throughout and then tying it up at 22. NIC hit two quick kills to make it 24-23 and set point but
Jazzy Golly struck back to make it 24-23. Unfortunately, that would be it for the Devils as North Idaho got the set point kill to win 25-23.
Set three was all Cardinals as North Idaho pounded their way to a 22-13 advantage. LCC tried to mount a comeback hitting six kills to get within 5 but an untimely attack error gave the Cardinals the set and match point at 25-18.
Paige Chinchen lead the Devils with 9 kills and 9 digs.
Kate Johnson had 8 kills and
Jayden Foster added 6 kills.
Alex Tinsley was solid with 25 assists and
Arianna Vreeland continued to be outstanding with 16 digs.
Lower Columbia finished the season 27-6 and a fifth place NWAC finish along with the West Region Champions title. Coach
Carri Smith also hit a milestone 200 wins this season.
As a team the Devils were 4
th in the NWAC for kills with 1,373. They finished second in the NWAC for service aces with 295 and Digs with 2,428.
