The Lower Columbia College women's soccer season came to a disappointing end in a 6-3 loss at Bellevue Tuesday May 25
th.
Â
The Red Devil defense had a letdown.
Â
Bellevue scored four goals in the span of the first 20 minutes and an LCC comeback effort never materialized.
Â
Alexa? Who scored five of the Bellevue goals? More like Alexis. Alexis Lamb scored three goals and Alexis Sagepin had two more.
Â
Sagepin's goal at the 65
th minute was especially disappointing. She dribbled the ball three-quarters of the length of the field without a Red Devil picking her up. That goal came after LCC had scored twice before halftime to make the score 4-2.
Â
LCC got on the scoreboard at 33' when
Julia Cash headed the ball into the net off an
Ellie Summerson assist.
Â
Jerika Isaacson gave the Devils some hope when she rifled a ball into the net with seconds left in the half.
Â
Hannah Woten of Bellevue ended up with a goal and two assists for Bellevue.
Â
Marissa Moyle scored in stoppage time to make the score 6-3.
Â
Despite the lackluster performance in the season finale, there are many positives to take away from the first year under new head coach
Joe Chicks.
Â
LCC ended up 1-7-2 on the season, but they had many of the top teams on the ropes in several games.
Â
With the Covid-19 spring season complete, coach Chicks now sets his sights on completing the roster and getting ready for the first day of practice on August 1
st.
Â
The future is bright.
