The Lower Columbia College softball team finished off the season by running the table. The Devils completed a 20-0 undefeated season with a double header sweep over Grays Harbor Saturday May 22
nd in Aberdeen.
Kinzey Williams won the NWAC batting crown by going 6 for 8 in the twin bill, good for an incredible .622 batting average. The Devils won the first game 8-0 and took the season finale 16-1. Both games were shortened to five innings because of the 8-run rule.
Jade Behic pitched the first game and allowed just four singles. Behic walked none and struck out seven to close out her season record of 10-0.
Williams was 2 for 4 with two RBI's.
Katelyn McGough was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI's.
Ada Williams was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI's.
Saydie Harris had an RBI triple and catcher
Brittnee Harvill was 2 for 2 with a walk and two runs scored.
The Devils pounded out 19 hits in the second game highlighted by a huge final game for Harris. Saydie went 4 for 4 with six RBI's. She had two doubles and a monstrous home run to centerfield into the teeth of a wind blowing straight in.
Kinzey continued to do her thing as she was 4 for 4 with four runs scored.
McGough was 2 for 4. Ada also had two hits including a double.
Mallory Brown was outstanding in the circle as she went all five innings allowing just three hits. Grays Harbor got its only run of the day with a fifth inning double off Brown. Mallory walked just one and struck out six Chokers.
Brown also went 2 for 4 at the plate.
Karsyn Zaragoza also had a great final game for LCC, going 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBI's.
The 2021 Covid-19 season was anything but normal. LCC was placed into a West Region-only schedule with the traditional South Region showdowns not happening this season.
Traci Fuller's team took on the games presented on their schedule and took care of business.
