You want to talk about dropping the mic? For Red Devil sophomore
Tommia Pakootas, her final game for LCC was a matter of dropping bombs.
Pakootas set a new LCC women's basketball record for made three pointers in a game with nine. She was 9 for 11 from beyond the arc and put on one of the greatest long distance shooting displays in the history of Myklebust Gym.
The nine three's break the record that was co-held by Kaylie Knox (2015) and Krista Olafson (2001).
Prior to the game, Pakootas and point guard
Eastyn Reeves were honored as they had made the decision to advance academically. Reeves will continue her education towards becoming a paramedic. Pakootas will study nursing and play at Briar Cliff College.
Reeves knew who to get the ball to. Pakootas scored 27 points as the hot hand. Reeves did not score, but she had eight assists and six steals.
Danica Schmidt had another great game for the Devils with 20 points on 10 for 15 shooting. Schmidt had 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Chinedu Nnadi had 12 points and four assists.
After Centralia scored the game first basket, LCC went on a 10-0 run. But the stubborn Blazers hung in there and actually took a 34-33 lead in the third quarter.
Cue Tommia. The Blazers would never lead again. Pakootas hit all six of her second-half three point attempts and the Devils won going away.
Allison DeBerry led Centralia with 15 points.
The Devils ran the table in this shortened Covid-19 season going 9-0.
With several players committed to come back and a talented recruiting class coming in, head coach
Lucas Myers is excited about next season.
Myers celebrated his 32
nd birthday Tuesday watching Pakootas light it up.
There were smiles all around.
