Box Score 3 The Lower Columbia College baseball team found the competition much better April 10
th and 11
th. Saturday the Devils took both ends of a double header at Centralia by scores of 5-4 and 3-0. Sunday LCC split at Pierce with an 8-3 victory and a 3-0 loss.
In the first game at Centralia, starter
Spencer Andersen went six innings giving up two earned runs, six hits, no walks with 10 strikeouts.
Ryan Pitts and
Alex Bratton were sharp out of the bullpen. Pitts went 2 2/3 innings allowing no runs, one hit and four strikeouts. Bratton had a strike out in his 1/3 of a frame. The Devils combined to strikeout 15 Blazer batters.
Drew Steelhammer led the offense by going 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBI's.
Grant Henry was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI's.
Eric Luchies also had two hits and an RBI.
The Devils used three freshman pitchers in the second game to combine on the shutout.
Sam Stuhr got the start and went 5 1/3 innings giving up just one hit. Stuhr allowed no runs, walked two and struck out five Centralia batters.
Aaron Robertson made his college pitching debut going 2/3 of an inning.
Cole Bertram pitched a scoreless inning to close it out.
Steelhammer went 1 for 3 with two RBI's.
Tommy Davis was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Sunday the Devils traveled to Puyallup for a twin bill at Pierce.
Griffin Henry got the start and went a solid six innings allowing five hits, two runs, two walks and six strikeouts for the complete game victory.
Steelhammer had another big game going 3 for 5. Luchies also had three hits including a triple and three RBI's.
Matthew Schwarz went 2 for 4.
Kyle Casperson went 1 for 4 with an RBI. The 2 through 5 hitters in the Devil lineup went 10 for 19 with five RBI's.
The offense was shut down in the second game as Riley Paulino of Pierce was in control.
Grant Henry had two hits and
Tyler Reese had the other.
Starter
Michael Callia Jr. went four innings giving up just one earned run. He had two strikeouts but also hit three Pierce batters.
Daniel Furman was effective out of the bullpen going two innings with no runs allowed and a strikeout.
The Devils (5-1) will host Tacoma in a big double header Saturday April 16
th. The start time at Story Field is 12 noon.
