Devils Finish Season With A Win

Red Devils Soccer hit the pitch for the last time this season on Saturday, October 30, vs the Tacoma Titans. Tacoma was riding a 6 game win streak and headed for the NWAC playoffs  but the Devils were determined to make their last match a memorable one and they did not disappoint. Tacoma was aggressive in the first half outshooting the Devils 7 to 6 and getting 6 corners to LCC's 0 but Tacoma's aggressive play hurt them in the 34th minute when a Titan foul gave the Devils a penalty kick. Abby Schroeder hit the back of the net to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
The lead wouldn't last long though, as Tacoma's Lauren Glazenbrook worked her way around the Red Devils back line and scored in the 38th minute. The 1-1 tie would hold until the half.

Just short of 10 minutes into the second half, Devils sophomore, Shaylee Kawaguchi launched a shot from well outside the goal box and bounced it right past the Tacoma goalie to give Lower Columbia the go ahead goal.

That would prove to be all the Devils needed as their defense took care of everything the Titans tried to do. LCC out shot Tacoma 9-3 in the second half.

Final score Lower Columbia 2 Tacoma 1.

The Red Devils finished the 2021 season with a 8-7-2 record overall, 6-5-1 in the west region. They were one point shy of forcing a tie breaking game with Pierce for the NWAC soccer playoffs.
