The Lower Columbia men's basketball team had things on cruise control. Up 19 points with 9 minutes left, it looked like it was going to be an easy road win at Green River.
The Gators made it anything but easy.
Green River got within four points late in the game when LCC lost some composure. But the Devils righted the ship, hit some big free throws and came away with a 75-68 victory at the Swamp on Wednesday January 22
nd.
Travis Patrick and
Alexis Angeles hit some big free throws in the waning moments. Angeles led the Devils with 16 points on the night. Patrick came off the bench with 14 points and six rebounds.
The LCC bench was key to the victory. The Devils bench outscored the Green River reserves 34-23.
Amiri Chukwuemeka went 4 for 5 from long distance. He had 15 points, three assists and two steals.
NWAC leading rebounder
Samaad Hector may have had a tough offensive night with nine points but he was doing his thing on the boards with 18.
Cody Young played through foul problems and scored nine points before fouling out.
Green River leading scorer Pa'Treon Lee was held to 12 points, eight below his scoring average.
The Devils are 4-1 in the West, 16-4 overall.
It's back on the road Saturday January 25
th when the Devils take on the Pierce Raiders in Lakewood. Game time is at 7 pm.
