Inspired Lane Makes It No Doubt

LCC head coach Lucas Myers said his team ran into a buzz saw.

Fired up over an early season loss to the Devils, Lane came out and dominated in a 93-44 victory. The Titans outplayed LCC in every phase.

Lower Columbia had an 8-7 lead in the first four minutes, but Lane went on an 18-0 run eliminating any doubt as to which team was going to advance.  Two early fouls against Red Devils stars Kenya Lorton and Nizhoni Wheeler sent them to the bench and LCc could never recover.

Jerri Maluyo led LCC with 12 points and four rebounds in her final game as a Red Devil.  Shasta Lofgren had 10 points in her LCC finale.

Madeline Jacobson came off the bench for five points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Five Titans scored in double figures led by the 20 of Emma Jones.  The tall, physical Titans had their way, perhaps motivated by the December 1st loss to LCC at Myklebust Gym.  More likely the motivation was to get to the Final Four for the first time in three seasons.  Prior to that, Lane had reached four straight Final Fours.

Despite the disappointment, the Red Devils must look at the big picture.  LCC started 0-4 this season, but recovered to claim 20 victories, a West Region championship and an Elite Eight appearance.
It was a good debut for Coach Myers in his first season as head coach.

LCC fans will miss Lorton, Wheeler, Packham, Maluyo, Lofgren and Mikayla Hopkins.  With the returning sophomores and an impressive list of commitments for next season, the Devils are confident to get back to another solid run at the NWAC championships.
