The Lower Columbia women's basketball team was down by 20 points with less than a minute before halftime. But the defense tightened up in the second half and the Devils rallied to pull off a stunner 71-69 in overtime over Grays Harbor.
Kenya Lorton hit a twisting desperation type three pointer with less than :10 seconds left in regulation to tie it up and LCC held on in the overtime to win it.
It was an uphill climb all night long as the Chokers were red hot in the first half leading 44-30. Down 57-49 after three, LCC outscored the Chokers 12-4 in the 4th quarter to get it into the extra session.
Shasta Lofgren led LCC with 17 points including 4 for 8 from beyond the arc. She also had seven rebounds.
Jerri Maluyo was all over the court with 14 points, five steals and five assists.
Nizhoni Wheeler had 12 points and seven rebounds including a big bucket in the OT.
Lorton was held to 11 points but it was her clutch three that allowed LCC to get the extra time they would need. Lorton had six rebounds and six assists.
Madeline Jacobson had nine points and 11 big rebounds.
Charleea Armstrong led Grays Harbor with 17 points.
The Devils are now 8-2 in the West and open up a two game lead over Centralia and Grays Harbor. Highline is just one game back in the loss column.
Lower Columbia travels to Olympia to take on South Puget Sound on Wednesday February 20th. Game time is 6 pm.
