Devils Finish in 10th Place at NWAC Championships


The Red Devils season came to an end on Friday, November 22 after a 2-1 loss to the Tacoma Titans at the NWAC Volleyball Championships in Tacoma, WA. 

The Devils felt good going into the elimination match vs Tacoma, knowing that they had already beaten the Titans twice this season.

Third time was the charm for Tacoma as they beat the Devils 2-1, ending LCC's season.

Tacoma came out determined in the first set hitting .239% to the Devils .070%. Tacoma took the first set 25-16.

With their backs against the wall, the Red Devils came back out in the second set and out-hit the Titans, getting 17 kills to Tacoma's 11 and taking the set 25-23 to force a match-deciding third set.

Tacoma took control jumping out to a 5-1 lead and forcing a Lower Columbia time out. Unfortunately, LCC was just not able to match Tacoma's energy and fell to the Titans with a final set score of 15-9. 

The Red Devils finished the season in 10th place with a record of 25-15. 

Ashlynn Cantwell lead the Devils with 11 kills. Kiana Scott had seven kills. Camryn Wilson was outstanding with 22 assists and 11 digs. Emma Nelson was also terrific in the backcourt with 17 digs. 

Paige Moorcroft, along with Cantwell and Scott, had one more match to play has they were selected to play in the Sophomore All-Star match held on Sunday, November 26. 

Freshman Emma Nelson was selected to the West Region All-Stars First Team for her outstanding play this year. Freshman Zoe Naugle was selected to the West Region All-Stars Second Team along with Sophomore Ashlynn Cantwell.
