The talented Highline women's soccer team is undefeated this season and they took care of their latest challenge downing the Lower Columbia Red Devils 6-0 in Longview on Wednesday October 16th.
But give the Red Devils some credit. Despite and rash of injuries and playing a second emergency goal keeper, the Devils played hard to the final whistle in the rain at Northlake Field.
Highline scored three goals each half. Hannah Anderson had two goals and an assist to the lead the T-Birds. Sophia Leer also had two goals as the Highline team is now 10-0 on the season.
The Thunderbirds out shot the Devils 21-4. LCC had an early opportunity to take the lead, but a point blank shot went just wide.
With regular goalkeepers
Leayssa Murray and
Jade Cox both injured and emergency keeper
Arianna Siuda also coming back from injury, the Devils turned to midfielder
Karen Gonzalez. Gonzalez didn't shy away from the assignment and she collected 12 saves.
Devil sophomore
Elizabeth Aceveda had one of the Devils two shots on goal as she competed against one of the NWAC's best teams on her birthday.
Lower Columbia returns to action on Saturday October 19th when they take on the Green River Gators in a 7 pm match at the Wilson Playfields in Auburn.
