Devils Earn 20 Win Season By Downing Tacoma

Lower Columbia men's basketball head coach Mickey Polis saw his team close out the regular season by getting win number 20 with a 110-75 victory over Tacoma on Wednesday February 28th.

Polis took over the program from retired legend Jim Roffler and he put together a squad that featured just two players who appeared in the Devils Final Four run of 2017.

Of course they were two great players in Brandon Cotton and Spencer Sweet.  Both were honored prior to the game on Sophomore Night along with transfer Kyle Daugherty.  All three contributed to the Devils victory.

Cotton had 22 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals to lead the way.  Cotton played 28 minutes and missed just two shots from the floor.  It capped an outstanding two year run in front of the home fans.

Sweet scored nine points in 15 minutes as he was saddled with early foul trouble.  The redshirt sophomore dazzled the home crowd in his two seasons on the court and three seasons in the program.

Daugherty continued his late season heroics with 18 points and five rebounds.

Redshirt freshman Wesley Gilbert had an outstanding game with 20 points. Gilbert was 10 for 13 from the floor.

Dwayne Stewart was solid with 11 points and six rebounds.  D Stew was 5-5 from the free throw line.

Bricin Ford had eight points including two slam dunks running the floor.  Seth Hall also had eight points

Stephon Shaw led Tacoma with 22 points.

The Devils had already locked up the number two seed in the West, finishing with a 12-2 record, 20-8 overall.  The Devils will find out the opponent during the NWAC Selection Show on Sunday March 4th at 3 pm.
