The Devils are big supporters of shopping local during the Christmas season. But sometimes you have to travel to Portland to get what you want.
The Lower Columbia College men's team was looking for a "Dub", and they got it on Wednesday December 12th.
The Devils defeated the Portland Panthers 77-62 as LCC never trailed in the game.
Seth Hall and
Martis Johnson led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points each. Hall added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Lower Columbia got great productivity off the bench and there was an emphasis on getting the ball inside. The Devils had 46 points in the paint, outscoring Portland by 20 inside.
Bricin Ford was big off the bench with 12 points and four rebounds. He also had another emphatic dunk.
The big dunk of the game was from
Travis Patrick, who took a long rebound and dribbled all the way down the court and threw it down. Patrick had five points in the game.
Dwayne Stewart had 10 points.
Cody Young got extended time at point guard and dished five assists. Starting point guard
Alec Canete-Hall hit 5 of 6 free throws and had seven points.
The first NWAC coaches poll came out with Lower Columbia ranked 5th.
The Devils will travel to Salem for the NWAC Cross Over action hosted by Chemeketa. LCC takes on Yakima Valley at 5 pm on Friday December 14th. The Devils play Peninsula at 1 pm on Saturday the 15th and then close out the weekend with a 3pm Sunday game against Chemeketa.
