Quality pitching will go a long way in the NWAC.
Friday in Tacoma it was quality with a capital Q.
The Red Devils defeated Tacoma twice on Friday May 12th by scores of 4-0 and 5-1.
With the victories, the Devils are one win away from clinching the NWAC West crown but the attempt with have to wait another day. Coaches
Eddie Smith of LCC and Ryan Mummert of TCC have agreed that a Sunday afternoon weather window would be best to decide it. The Titans have to win both games Sunday to take the division.
Sunday's Mother's Day double header will begin at 3 pm. The LCC Alumni Day event has been canceled. The LCC Foundation hopes to make it up with a future event down the road. We apologize for any inconvenience to our outstanding alumni.
Taylor Davis was outstanding in game one Friday. The sophomore right hander went 7 2/3 innings of six-hit, shutout ball to get the victory.Â
Trevor Huddleston came on in the 8th to get out of a jam and finished it out. Davis had eight strikeouts and T-Hud had two in 1 1/3 innings.
Jordan Barchus had the big hit of the game as his two-run double in the third keyed a three run frame. Barchus was 2 for 4 with two RBI's.
Ricky Muzzy and
Chase Hodkinson had two hits each.
Jared Akin took the ball in the second game and did it all himself. The big right hander upped his record to 6-0 with a complete game three-hitter. He went all seven innings and the only true blemish was giving up a solo homer in the second inning. Akin struck out five and walked just one.
Cameron Campbell hit a two run homer to lead the offense. Muzzy was 2 for 4 with an RBI.Â
JT Strickler also had two hits.
Barchus and
Steve Robinson also drove in runs for LCC.
