The LCC baseball team took a step away from West Region play when they hosted the George Fox University JV team on Tuesday April 11
th.

The Devils grabbed a sweep, winning the first game 9-1 and taking the night cap 11-3 at Story Field.

LCC led 4-0 in the opener without a basehit. The Devils scored two runs on five walks in the first and added two more runs in the second aided by two more walks and a hit batter.

Todd Reese hit a solo homer to lead off the 5
th and
Trevor Huddleston came off the bench for a two run double later in the inning. Reese was 2 for 3 in the game.

Travis Paynter got the start and went 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball.Â
Zac Horne got the win going 2 1/3.Â
Jake Roes mopped in up with four solid innings giving up just one base hit.

Taylor Davis was the offensive star in the second game. He went 4 for 4 with a homer and four RBI's. Davis had three singles and his three-run shot in the 4
th inning blew the game wide open.

Cameron Campbell got the game off to a good start with a two-run longball in the first. Campbell was 2 for 2 with two walks and a hit-by-pitch.

JT Strickler was 2 for 3 including an RBI double.
Jordan Barchus was 2 for 2 with an RBI.Â
Sam Trend-Beacom also went 2 for 4.

Todd Reese started and shook off two early George Fox runs by going three innings and giving up just two hits.

Tom Gomez got the win by coming in and pounding the strike zone. Gomez went three innings giving up just two runs, one earned.
Trevor Huddleston dominated in a single inning non-save close out.

The Devils go to 17-5 with the victories. They return to West action Friday afternoon with a double header at Grays Harbor. The game is scheduled for Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam Friday at 1 pm, but there is a possibility of a venue change due to weather.

The teams will then play each other Saturday in a 1 pm twin bill at Story Field.
