What was supposed to be an opening weekend featuring six games for the Lower Columbia baseball team became just one soggy loss.
The Devils opened the season with a 9-4 loss to Linn Benton on Friday March 3rd. The second game of the double header was rained out. Then five more games of the Three Rivers Classic were rained out on Saturday and Sunday.
The Roadrunners seemed to deal with the nearly constant rain on Friday better than the Devils. Logan Hatley threw five innings of three-hit ball to get the win for Linn Benton.
LCC starter
Taylor Davis took the loss as he walked five batters during his four inning outing. Davis allowed just one hit, but the wildness and a pair of LCC errors hurt the cause.
Tom Gomez went four innings and gave up six runs, although just two were earned. Zach Horne pitched the ninth and gave up just one hit.
Cameron Campbell had a nice night at the plate by going 3 for 4. He hit a double and smashed a solo home run.
The Devils return to action Friday March 10th when they host the Lane Titans for a 3 pm double header. The teams will then meet Saturday for an 11 am twin bill.
