The Lower Columbia baseball team was just looking for a weather window.
They found it.
The Red Devils two-timed Olympic 4-1 and 6-4 on Tuesday March 21st at Story Field. The game was moved up to an 11 am start and it turned out to be a great call as the rain stayed away and there was even some sunshine to enjoy.
In game one,
Travis Paynter got the win with five solid innings of three-hit ball. Paynter allowed just one run and worked around two walks.
Jake Roes came on with two innings of work to close out the seven inning game. Roes allowed just two hits and a walk.
Taylor Davis led the offense by going 2 for 3 with two RBI's and two runs scored.
Jordan Barchus hit an RBI double.Â
The second game was highlighted by
Ricky Muzzy's towering solo homerun well out of Story Field's left field back wall.
Sam Trend-Beacom had two hits including a double and two RBI's.Â
Nicklaus Palmer also collected two hits.
Todd Reese got the start and cruised through three innings before running into trouble in the 4th. Reese ended up going five innings, scattering nine hits for the victory.
Tom Gomez gave up just a hit in a scoreless sixth.Â
Trevor Huddleston earned the save by pitching the 7th, giving up just one hit.
The Devils have won seven straight as they look forward to a big showdown with Edmonds. The first two games of the four game series will be at Edmonds Friday
March 24th, a 1pm double header. The teams will then turn around and come to Story Field for a 1 pm DH on Saturday March 25th.
