Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Clips Streak Snipped! Devils Beat S. Puget Sound.

The Lower Columbia men's basketball team thwarted a perfect league mark for South Puget Sound.

The Clippers already had the West Region title in hand as they hosted LCC on Wednesday March 1st.  But the Devils came away with an exciting 67-66 victory in Olympia and snapped SPSCC's 18-game win streak.

Spencer Sweet turned the game around when he hit a tough three in the left corner and was fouled. The and-one free throw got the Devils back in the game and they held on for the win.  The Clippers Luke Chavez, who had a great second half and finished with 28 points, got fouled with 5 seconds left and had a chance to hit two free throws to tie. He made the first but missed the second and the wild scramble for the ball went to LCC and the Devils got the win.

Sweet finished with 17 points.  Devin Johnson had a big game with 17 points and 17 rebounds.  Keun Palu-Thompson led the Devils in scoring with 18.

It was a tremendous road victory to end the regular season and should serve as a good springboard towards the post season.  The Devils take the #3 seed from the West and will wait for the NWAC Selection Show on Sunday March 5th to see which #2 seed they will play and when.  The NWAC men's tournament begins Thursday March 9th in Everett.

The Devils finish the regular season with a 21-8 overall record and 10-4 in the West.

The NWAC Selection Show can be viewed on Sunday at 3:00 pm on You Tube. The show can be acessed from the NWAC Website at nwacsports.org.
