The Lower Columbia women's basketball team felt this was the year they could capture the school's first NWAC title.

They also knew there would be plenty of tough teams with same goal.  They ran into one of those teams on Sunday March 12th in Everett.

Walla Walla defeated the Red Devils 63-57 in an intense Elite Eight matchup that featured plenty of great defense and physical play.  In the end the Warriors hit more free throws and played tremendous in the game's final four minutes.

Cierra Jo McKeown had a great game for the Warriors with 29 points.

The Devils were led by Madison Lord with 19 points and six rebounds.

Madison Hinrichs was solid in her final LCC game as she scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four assists.  Faye Chartraw also performed well in her final Red Devil game as she had 13 points.

The Devs had a 21-19 lead at halftime, but the Warriors kept coming back and they were able to take control by hitting free throws down the stretch.  Walla Walla ended 16 for 21 at the line (76%), while LCC got to the line just six times, making three.

It was a disapointing ending for a great season. LCC finished 27-4 with a talented roster where sacrifices were made.  Starters a year ago came off the bench this season and many players gave up minutes for the good of the team.  Despite those sacrifices, the players supported each other and came together for one of the great seasons in LCC women's basketball history.

10 sophomores took the floor for the final time including Hinrichs, Chartraw, Carissa Cannon, Keahi-lele Roy, Bailey Hockett. Marissa Gardner, Jenny Westlund, Olivia Doerr, Samantha Boyce and Kaitlin Lewis.

Each player contributed to a remarkable mix of talent, personality and sacrifice.

These Devils will be missed.  The future Devils will be back.
