Three days after losing a heartbreaker to South Puget Sound, the LCC men's basketball team took the hardwood for an afternoon non-league game at Myklebust Gym with the Multnomah University J.V. Lions on Saturday February 4th.
Spencer Sweet scored 18 points, on five of nine shots from three-point range, and grabbed nine rebounds to guide the Red Devils to a 21-point victory, 85-64 over the Lions.
The Lions proved that they could stay with the Red Devils as they were down just 40-35 at half. But a 17-2 run was all the Red Devils would need as they coasted their way to victory.
Marcus Lord had 16 points and six rebounds for LCC. Devin Johnson scored eight with 10 rebounds.
Coming off the bench for the first time this season, Elijia Cotton-Welch scored 12 points with seven caroms.
Every Red Devil got to play and each player had at least three points in this tune up game for LCC to prepare them for the second half of their schedule.
On Wednesday, February 4th, both the men and women begin the second half of West Region play, on the road at Pierce College. Game time for the women is at 6 pm, and at 8Â pm for the men.
The Red Devils return home next Saturday, February 11th, against their rival, the Tacoma Titans. Game time for the women is at 5 pm, and 7 pm for the men. The game will be streamed live on Devil Vision. Go to YouTube and search: lcc red devils athletics.
