Grays Harbor and Lower Columbia have one of the longest running rivalries in the NWAC. But for many who have been around Red Devil basketball for decades, they visited the actual Grays Harbor campus for the first time.
The Chokers have always played their home games at Aberdeen High School until this season when they made the move to the small on-campus gym. The Devils didn't seem too bothered as they collected a 77-66 victory on Saturday January 28th.
Keun Palu-Thompson scored 25 points to lead LCC to a ninth consecutive victory. Palu-Thompson also had six rebounds and four assists.
Devin Johnson was a rebound shy of a double-double with 19 points and nine boards.
Johnson and Palu-Thompson took charge in the second half after LCC had just an eight point lead at the break.
Nate Solomon had eight points and four assists. Elijiah Cotton-Welch had five poitns and four helpers.
Spencer Sweet scored five with four rebounds.
Jacob Rainery had 21 to lead the Chokers.
It will be a battle of league unbeatens when the Devils host the South Puget Sound Clippers on Wednesday February 1st. Both teams are 6-0 in the West and both are riding win streaks, nine for LCC and 10 straight for SPSCC.
