The Lower Columbia volleyball team had to dig deep to keep its early season win streak alive.
The Devils defeated Olympic 3-0 and Clark 3-1 in a three team event at Clark College in Vancouver on Tuesday September 6th.
After a slow start in set one, the Devils went on to sweep the Olympic Rangers 3-0. The sets scores were 25-22, 25-11 and 25-14.
The nightcap was anything but easy. Clark took the first set 25-20 which got the Devils attention. LCC battled back to win set two 25-21 and then did it again with a 25-21 victory in set three.
The 4th set was a classic. Clark was in position to force a 5th and deciding set when they had a 22-18 lead. But the Devils went on a run and ended up with a 26-24 match clinching victory.
Kallie Schmit led LCC against Clark with 22 kills. Official stats were not available following the match.
The Devils nine match win streak will be sorely tested Thursday night September 8th. The defending champion Blue Mountain Timberwolves pay a visit to Myklebust Gym for a 6 pm start. Blue Mountain may be 4-8 in the early going, but they have plenty of talent back from last season's title team and will be a firm test for the Devils.
