In the past three seasons, the Highline Thunderbirds have outscored Lower Columbia 40-0 in six matches.
The Devils showed the improvement they have made this season despite another loss to the talented T-Birds.
Highline beat LCC 3-1 on Saturday September 10th at Northlake Field.
The T-birds went up 2-0 at halftime, but LCC did not quit.Â
Melany Roggow scored on a
Haley Briggs assist at the 55 minute mark as the Red Devils got back into the match. Highline put it away with a third goal at the 66 minute mark.
Highline outshot LCC 23-4, but Devil keepers
Shelby Vermeulen and
Whitney Lopez combined for nine saves.
Grace Peacock played hurt with a sore foot, but was outstanding on the Devils back line. Several other LCC players were less than 100 percent healthy, but gave more than 100 percent effort.
Highline was led by the two goals of Bianca Acuario.
LCC drops the league opener, but looks forward to hitting the road against another top notch West team Tacoma Wednesday September 14th at 2:00 pm.
