Devils And Titans Split, LCC Maintains West Lead

It's no surprise that Lower Columbia and Tacoma split a four game set on Friday May 6th and Saturday May 7th. The two talented teams went toe-to-toe and each came away with something they needed.  Tacoma gets the tie-breaker in head to head, but LCC holds on to its two game lead atop the division.

Friday's scores were both 3-2 at Story Field.  Tacoma won the first game on Keylen Steen's solo homer in the top of the 7th.  it spoiled a good pitching performance for LCC starter Kade Kryzsko, who went the distance allowing three runs on seven hits in the nine inning affair. It was Kryzsko's first loss as a collegian.

The Devils thought they had an equalizing homer from Hayden Gerlach in the bottom of the 7th, but it was ruled just foul.

Cameron Campbell had two hits and an RBI for the Devils.  Lorin Archibald and Taylor Davis had two hits each.

In the second game, Campbell came on as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and drove in the tying runs with a bloop basehit. It was the hit the Devils needed to gain the split.

Tyler Parson's went five innings giving up two runs on four hits.  Max Tilton got the win in relief by slamming the door with three innings of one-hit ball.  Tilton is now 3-0 on the season with an ERA of 0.00.

Game one Saturday at Tacoma was all Titans.  Tacoma jumped on Devil starter Alex Torson with seven runs in the first three innings and went on to a 12-2 victory in seven innings.

Benny Kaleiwahea was the only Red Devil to have two hits in the game.

Joel Worden picked up his teammates by calming Tacoma's momentum.  Worden went 4 1/3 innings giving up two earned runs.  Tilton was again the money man out of the bullpen allowing no hits and no runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Kryzsko went 3 for 4 at the plate with four RBI's including a big three run homer.  Archibald was 2 for 4 with three RBI's.

The Devils will step out of West Region play with a home double header against Everett on Tuesday May 10th.  Both games are scheduled for seven innings each.
The first game begins at 5 pm.

LCC closes out the regular season with four games against Grays Harbor.  The Devils host the Chokers in a 1 pm twin bill Saturday May 14th, then travel to Hoquiam for a 1 pm double dip at Olympic Stadium Sunday May 15th.
