The second ranked LCC baseball team kept a two game lead in the West Division with a four game sweep of rival Centralia on Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st.
The weekend action started Saturday at Story Field where the Devils jumped on Centralia for six runs on six hits in the first inning alone. But the offense shut down after that, mustering just an infield hit the next eight frames.
LCC pitching made sure the lead held up as
Tyler Parsons scattered eight hits over six innings, give up just one earned run. The freshman lefty from Kelso struck out five.Â
Max Tilton came on in the 7th and provided three innings of dominating relief for the save. Tilton allowed just three hits during his stint.
The big hit in the Devils first inning explosion was
Ryan Engquist's two run triple into the right field corner.Â
Hayden Gerlach and
Taylor Davis had RBI single in the inning.
Benny Kaleiwahea had two hits for LCC.
The second game was tied 2-2 after 4 1/2 innings when the Devils plated five runs to take control.
Davis was 2 for 3 with two RBI's.Â
Garrett Myers had two hits.
Kade Kryzsko provided a complete game effort on the mound. He scattered 10 hits and allowed just two runs to get the victory. Kryzsko lowered his ERA to 1.99 on the season.
The series shifted to Wheeler Field in Centralia on Sunday and again the Blazers put up a good fight. LCC was down 4-1 after four innings when they took over momentum with five runs in the 5th and four runs in the 7th.
Kryzsco had a big game at the plate as he went 2 for 4 with three RBI's. But it was
Cameron Campbell who the big star at the plate as he went 5 for 5. Myers also was strong offensively with three hits.
Toby Johnson had a double with an RBI.
The offense picked up Red Devil starter
Alex Torson who gave up five runs in two innings.
Anthony Garcia came on and did a great job in long relief, allowing just two hits and one run over six innings to get the win.
Trevor Huddleston had a clean 9th with two strikeouts.
Joel Worden made sure LCC would get the weekend sweep with a solid pitching performance in the finale. Worden went the distance with seven innings pitched and just two runs allowed, one unearned.
Campbell and Myers had two hits each to lead the offense. Kryzsko had the Devils lone RBI in the game.
The Devils are now 15-2 in the West and 27-8 overall. A huge four game set with second place Tacoma begins Friday afternoon May 6th at Story Field. The Devils have a two game lead over the Titans going into the series. Game one is at 2 pm Friday. The teams will then head to Tacoma for a 1 pm twinbill on Saturday May 7th.
