After a two day delay and a change of venue, the Lower Columbia College baseball team took care of business with a pair of wins over Green River on Tuesday April 25th.
The Devils won 12-3 and 7-2 at Story Field. LCC was the visiting team after Sunday's action was rained out at Heritage Park and procuring a venue in King County was troublesome.
The Red Devils scored six runs in the first three innings Tuesday to take control. A
Garrett Myers RBI groundout in the first and a
Corey Conklin RBI single in the second got things going, then LCC broke it open with four in the third.
Lorin Archibald had a big game going 4 for 4 with two runs scored.Â
Toby Johnson was 3 for 6 with an RBI.Â
Riley Higgins had two RBI's.
The offense backed the solid pitching of
Alex Torson who gave up two runs in five innings of work. Four Red Devil relievers came on and held the Gators to just a run on three hits over the final four frames.
Archibald supplied the power in the second game with a three-run homer in the 4th inning.Â
Cameron Campbell also went deep with a solo shot in the 5th. Conklin also had a hit and an RBI in the second game.
Joel Worden went five innings for the win, allowing just one run and six hits.Â
Taylor Davis and
Max Tilton each pitched an effective inning of relief.
LCC is now 11-2 in the West Division, alone in first place. The Devils take a 23-8 record into a home double header against second place Centralia on Saturday April 30th. The first pitch is slated for 1 pm at Story Field. The teams will the play two at Wheeler Field in Centralia on Sunday May 1st, also at 1 pm. Â
