The Lower Columbia College baseball team had a memorable weekend, taking four straight games from Pierce on April 16th and 17th.
Saturday's double header at Story Field featured two close and very exciting games. In the first game Saturday, LCC plated four runs in the bottom of the second only to see the Raiders rally with three of their own in the third off Devil starter
Tyler Parsons.
Pierce tied it up with a solo run in the 5th. Lower Columbia scored the eventual winning run in the bottom of the 7th and Devil reliever
Max Tilton shut the door. Tilton got the win with 2 1/3 innings of work giving up just two hits and no runs.
The second game Saturday was a Devil classic.  The entire LCC team was wearing jersey numbers 42 in honor of Hall of Famer and civil rights great Jackie Robinson. It was fitting that a young man named Robinson won the nightcap.
Steve Robinson came up to the plate in the 8th inning of a schedule seven inning affair and drove in the winning run with double that scored
Riley Higgins all the way from first base. Robinson was mobbed by a pack of 42's near second base.
Robinson's heroics were set up by a clutch two run home run from
Hayden Gerlach. The Devils were held scorless through six innings until Gerlach sent a bomb over the party deck and out of the ballpark, tying the game and sending it into extra innings.
Kade Kryzsko was outstanding on the hill, giving up two runs and just six hits in six innings of work.Â
Trevor Huddleston got out of a jam in a scoreless eighth.Â
Taylor Davis got the win by pitching a clean top of the 9th.
Sunday's roadtrip to Tacoma was marred by the Red Devil bus stopped on I-5 for 45 minutes due to an accident near Centralia.  The games at Mt. Tahoma High started 30 minutes late, but it didn't matter to LCC.
Alex Torson went 6 1/3 innings to get the win, scattering six hits and working around four walks. Down 3-0 in the 6th,
Cameron Campbell came up with the big hit, a three run homer, part of a four run inning. It was all LCC would need as Tilton collected the save with 2 2/3 inning of relief.
In the finale,
Joel Worden was in control. The lefty went the distance going seven innings and giving up just four hits and one run.
Kryzsko led the offense with three RBI's.Â
Garrett Myers had two basehits.
With the sweep, the Devils go to 7-2 in the West Region. LCC will host Green River Saturday April 23rd in a 1 pm double header. The teams will then meet Sunday in a twinbill at Heritage Park in Puyallup, also at 1 pm.  Â
