The Lower Columbia softball team came up with a big rally to stay unbeaten in South Region play on Tuesday April 12th.

The Devils were able to fight through a 7th inning rain blast to defeat Clark 8-7 in game one of a double header. The second game was postponed due to the rain that saturated Heerensperger Field at Tam O'Shanter Park.

LCC was down 5-1 when they came up with four runs in the 4th inning. Sam Boyce hit a three run homer to get LCC within one, the Devils plated three in the sixth to take an 8-5 lead.

Things got wet and dicey in the top of the 7th as the Penguins scored two to get within one and had the tying run at third.  But NWAC Player of the Week Krystina Fischer collected the save by getting a flyout to rightfield to end the game.

Boyce ended up 2 for 3 with three RBI's on the big homer.  Bailey Hockett came up with a huge two-run single to get LCC the lead.

Ashley Kelly was 3 for 3 at the plate.  Madison Barr was 2 for 4 and an RBI.  Jessica Gibson was 2 for 4 with a ribbie.  Mariah Mendez also drove in a big run while going 1 for 2.

Devil starter Bailey Ellis went four innings, allowing eight hits and five runs, three earned.

Taylor Brooks came in in the 5th and shutdown the Penguins before struggling with the wet ball in the 7th.  Brooks went 2 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and one run for the victory.

Fischer got the save with 2/3 innings in tough conditions.

The Devils are now 5-0 in the South as they head to Yakima for an Inter Region tournament. The Devils take on Yakima Valley at 7 pm Friday night.  Saturday LCC will play Treasure Valley at 11:30 am and Centralia at 4:30 pm.  The weekend concludes with a game against Everett Sunday at 1:00 pm.

The Devils will make up the Clark rainout on Tuesday April 19th at 3 pm in Kelso.
