The Red Devils went in search of Bigfoot on Saturday and Sunday March 19-20.
Lower Columbia split a four game road trip at Spokane.
Saturday, the Devils defeated Spokane 4-3 behind the eight shutout innings of starting pitcher
Alex Torson. Torson scattered six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.Â
Todd Reese struggled in relief as he was touched for three runs and three hits. LCC closer
Taylor Davis came on to get the final two outs to collect his fifth save of the season.
Garrett Myers went 2 for 4 including a double. Davis and
Riley Higgins had RBI's.
Lorin Archibald had two hits for LCC.
The Saturday nightcap loss was the Devils first after starting the season 9-0. The Sasquatch won it 4-3 as they scored three runs in the first three innings off Devil starter
Joel Worden. Worden went 5 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and four runs.
Reliever
Max Tilton kept the Bigfoot at bay with 2 2/3 innings of hitless work. His solid pitching allowed the Devils to get within one with a single run in the 8th, but Spokane as able to hold on for the win.
Myers had two more hits in that game.
Steve Robinson, Davis and
Corey Conklin had RBI's for LCC.
On Sunday, the Devils won a wild one 11-10 in 10 innings. LCC scored two in the 8th, two in the 9th and 2 in the 10th to come away victorious.
Toby Johnson had three hits and two RBI to lead the way. Myers had another two hit game. Also with two hits were Archibald,
Riley Higgins and
Ryan Engquist. Steve Johnson had a big pinch hit two run single.
Devils starter
Ryan Kaser had a tough outing as he gave up four runs and six hits in three innings of work.Â
Jake Roes also scuffled as he gave up 10 hits and five runs in five innings.Â
Anthony Garcia got the victory with two innings of solid relief.
The two teams combined for 32 hits in the game.
The series finale went to Spokane 8-7. The Devils again showed a never-say-die game by rallying from a 6-1 deficit. LCC scored four in the top of the 9th to take a 7-6 lead, but Spokane plated two runs in the bottom of the 9th off Davis to get the win.
Starter
Tyler Parsons gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings, although just one of the runs was earned. The Devils defense was uncharacteristically poor with six errors. Just three of the eight Sasquatch runs were earned against Parson and Davis.
Justin Hughes was 2 for 2 including a two run homer.
Hayden Gerlach also hit a homer for LCC.
Higgins had two hits and two RBI.
Benny Kaleiwahea had two hits and an RBI.
The Devils are back home for a makeup doublheader at Story Field on Tuesday March 22nd. LCC will take on Chemeketa at 12 pm, followed by a matchup with Linn Benton at 5 pm. Chemeketa and Linn Benton will play a game in between at approximately 2:30 pm.
