The Lower Columbia College baseball team kept the 2016 season unbeaten with a pair of wins over Lane Friday March 11th at Story Field.
LCC and Lane both had scoring chances, but it was the Red Devils who were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-2 win in game one.
Garrett Myers had a good day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and homered in the sixth inning, the first LCC long ball of the season.
Riley Higgins had two hits.Â
Lorin Archibald,
Cameron Campbell and
Taylor Davis each had one RBI.
Jake Roes got the win has he provided four innings of relief, allowing just four hits and one run, striking out three.
Davis came on to collect his third save of the season.
Davis got another save (4th) in the nightcap to back the solid start of
Joel Worden. Worden went six innings allowing just four hits and two runs, striking out six.
Benny Kaleiwahea and Archibald both went 2 for 3 at the plate. Archibald had an RBI as did
Hayden Gerlach and Higgins.
The Devils double header with Lane on Saturday March 12th was victimized by rain. Both teams battled to a 5-5 tie before the game was cancelled due to rain.
Lower Columbia is slated to host the George Fox JV's in a 4:00 pm DH on Tuesday March 15th.
