Hoop Retreat At US Basketball Academy

The Lower Columbia women's basketball team went into the woods to play some basketball against high level competition on Thursday November 3rd.

The Devils were invited to the United States Basketball Academy in Blue River Oregon where they played three mini-games against Northwest Christian College, Lane Community College and the Chinese National team.

The USBA facility is located in Blue River, about 45 miles east of Eugene along the picturesque McKenzie River. The facility features two indoor courts and six outdoor courts as well as dormitories, cabins and other aminities.

The Devils opened up with Northwest Christian, where LCC came up with a 27-25 victory.  Former Red Devil Katarina Brejchova starts for NWC and the current Devils were happy to meet up with Kat.

The Chinese National team defeated LCC 36-26 in the second mini-game.

Defending NWAC champion Lane then defeated LCC 32-28 in the final game of the day.

The Devils were playing without Samantha Boyce, Kaitlin Lewis and Madison Crews due to health issues.

It was a great chance to get on the floor and play against other outstanding teams.

The Devils will take on Umpqua in another scrimmage Saturday November 12th in Salem. The start time is 1 pm.

LCC opens the season at home on Friday November 18th against Southwestern Oregon. Tip off time is 7 pm at Myklebust Gym.
