The Highline Thunderbirds rallied from two sets down to defeat Lower Columbia 3-2 in a NWAC West Region battle of the two top teams.
After the match in Longview on Wednesday November 2nd, the two teams are tied for first at 10-2. Both came up with road victories in splitting the league series.
The set scores were 26-28, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22 and 15-12.
The Devils jumped out to the early 2-0 lead, but the intermission came and the Red Devil mojo left on Sophomore Night.
Attack errors killed the Devils all night long as they mustered just a .181 percentage. LCC also had 10 service errors.
Rachel Erickson had 19 kills in her final home match for LCC.Â
Kallie Schmit had 12 kills and
Nina Bailey and
Jessy Marinetti had 10 each.Â
Kylie Reinholdt had nine kills.
Haylee Savage had 51 assists in her final match at Myklebust Gym.
Khloe Clark had 19 digs aned
Brooke Mosier had 12 digs.
Erickson, Savage, Schmit and Reinholdt were honored prior to the game. The Red Devil sophomores have all played well this season but they have more work to do.
The Devils are 24-7 overall and they have already clinched at least second place in the West with two matches left. LCC will be at Centralia on Friday November 4th and then close out the regular season at South Puget Sound on Wednesday November 9th.
If the T-Birds and Devils both win out, LCC would get the West #1 seed into the NWAC tournament beginning November 16th in Tacoma.
