The Lower Columbia College men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting Mt. Hood team on Sunday November 29th. The Saints defeated LCC 85-67 on the fi8nal day of the 30th Red Devil Classic.
Mt. Hood shot 48 percent from the floor and turned a close game in the second half into a decisive victory. The Saints were also 45 precent from 3-point range.
The Devils have dropped two straight after opening the season 2-0.
Keun Palu-Thompson led all scorers with 18 points. The sophomore also had six rebounds.
Devin Johnson was a rebound shy of a double-double. Johnson finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Elijah Cotton-Welch had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Spencer Sweet also had 11 points. Sweet hit three 3-pointers in eight attempts. The Devils as a team were just 5 for 22 from long distance.
Brandon Cotton had a college career high 10 points and led the team with three assists.
Mt. Hood scored 17 points off Red Devil turnovers, while LCC had just nine off Saints miscues.
The Devils will try and get right this week as they prepare to host a four team round-robin Saturday December 3rd and Sunday December 4th. LCC will take on Umpqua at 8 pm Saturday following a 6 pm game between Chemeketa and Bellevue at 6 pm.
Sunday's games feature Bellevue against Umpqua at 2 pm followed by LCC against Chemeketa at 4 pm.
