Battling injuries back in September, the Lower Columbia volleyball team opened West Region play with a tough road loss at Pierce, blowing a 2-0 lead in the process.
Closer to full strength, the Devils didn't blow a 2-0 lead to Pierce on Wednesday October 19. Instead they completed an impressive 3-0 sweep at Myklebust Gym.
Kallie Schmit, who missed the first Pierce match due to illness, was back in the rematch and she made her normal big impact. Schmit had 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the way.
The set scores were 25-21, 25-20 and 25-13.
In the third set, the Devils rode a red hot serving streak by
Brooke Mosier, who served six straight for points turning the final set into a blowout.
Rachel Erickson had 10 kills and seven digs.Â
Haylee Savage collected 39 assists.
Nina Bailey had nine kills and three blocks.Â
Kylie Reinholdt contributed six kills and two blocks.
LCC has won seven straight league matches since the loss to Pierce. The Devils are alone on top after Tacoma defeated Highline, sending the T-Birds a game back at 6-2.
The Devils travel to Aberdeen on Friday October 21 for a big match with Grays Harbor. The match begins at 7pm at Sam Benn Gym on the campus of Aberdeen High School.
