It's no longer a division rivalry, but it's always big when the Red Devils get together with the Clark Penguins.
The teams met in a non-league clash on Wednesday December 30th, and
Lawrence Russell drove down the lane and scored with one second left, then hit the game winning free throw after being fouled. LCC wins it 79-78.
It was the Devils third win over #2 ranked Clark in the last four meetings.
Russell had an outstanding game for LCC. He scored 22 points with eight rebounds and two steals. He hit all five of his free throws including the pressure packed game winner at the end.
Down two at the half, the Devils outscored the Penguins 42-39 to take the win.
Keun Palu-Thompson had 15 points and five assists for LCC.
Elijah Cotton-Welch had 12 points off the bench.
Nate Solomon also had 11 points.
The Devils outrebounded Clark 38 to 31. Three point shooting was also key as the Devils were 14 for 32 from beyond the arc.
LCC has one more tuneup before West Region play begins. The Devils will host the Pacific JV's at 7 pm on Tuesday January 5th. League play begins Saturday January 9th at Pierce.
