Devils Open Season With A Sasquatch Split

The 2015 Lower Columbia baseball season is underway. The Devils split a four game series at Story Field under beautiful sunny skies on Saturday February 28th and Sunday March 1st.

Saturday's opener went to the Devils, 4-2 over Spokane.  Tanner Olson went five innings and was lifted in the sixth due to a pitch count. Joel Worden came in with the bases loaded and no outs and allowed just runs, both charged to Olson. Worden then shutout down Bigfoot the rest of the way, earning the victory when the Devil scored two in the bottom of the 8th to get the victory.  Lorin Archibald came up with a clutch pinch hit RBI two run hit to provide the winning margin.  Michael Forgione had two hits and an RBI.

In Saturday's nightcap, Spokane scored three runs in the 5th inning and it held up for a 4-2 win.  Jeremy Rabauliman got the start and struck out six before giving up three runs in that fateful 5th.  Christian Parsons provided four innings of solid relief, giving up just one run and four hits and five strikeouts.  Gabe Ihrig closed it out getting two outs in the 9th.  The Devils were led offensively by Jake Bakamus who went 3-4 at the plate.  Ryan Littlefield had two hits.

Sunday was free admission day and the fans got even more as both games went to extra innings. The Devils took the 5-4 victory when Tanner Marty drew an 11th inning bases loaded walk.  Alex Torson gave up a three run homer in the first inning before settling down with six solid innings, allowing just the three runs on three hits with six strikeouts.  Peyton Burks gave up two hits and one run in four innings. Quentin Hakkinen got the victory with a scoreless 11th inning.  Ryan Littlefield's pinch hit RBI single tied the game in the 7th inning. Archibald had two hits and two RBI's for LCC. Rory Graf-Brennan had two hits and Tyler Gould had two hits and an RBI.

In the series finale, Spokane scored an unearned run in the top of the 10th for the win.  Ryan Peart took the tough loss. Kade Kryszko got the start and pitched well, scattering seven hits in five innings of work. Nick Tabura was also solid, giving up just four hits and no runs in four innings. Michael Forgione went 3 for 3 and Chris Rogers had two hits.
