The NWAC tourney bound LCC women's basketball team had a 14 game league win streak ended with a 73-67 loss at Centralia on Wednesday February 25th.
The hot shooting Blazers held off a Red Devil rally in the second half to get the win, keeping thier hopes alive for a share of the West title. The Devils close out the regular season Saturday February 28th against winless Grays Harbor, while the Blazers will be at Green River.
Kaylea Knox led the Devils with 20 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Centralia jumped out to an 11-1 lead out of the gate. LCC was down four at the half, until a pair of Mady Hanna three's got LCC the lead with five minutes left. The Blazers hit clutch free throws down the stretch to preserve the win. On the other hand, the Devils were just 12 for 22 at the line and LCC had 24 turnovers.
Sierra Richards had 13 points and five boards for LCC. Katerina Brejchova had eight points and six rebounds.
The Devils can claim the West title outright with a win over Grays Harbor Saturday on Sophomore Night, tip off is set for 5 pm. Eight sophomores will be honored prior to the game. The game will be televised live in HD on the internet at tofervision.com/lcc. The game will also be broadcast live on AM 1490 KLOG in the Longview-Kelso area and on the internet at klog.com.
