Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Devils D-Up to Knock Off #1 Centralia

The Lower Columbia women's basketball team used intesity and defense to defeat #1 ranked Centralia 63-47 on Saturday January 24th.

With the win, LCC is now alone in first place in the West with a 7-0 record, 14-7 overall.

LCC came out strong with a 12-0 lead before the Blazers righted the ship and made it close at halftime. The Devils led 27-26 at the break.  Lower Columbia had a big second half, outscoring the Blazers 36-21.

LCC was the first NWAC team to knock off the talented Centralia team.

Kaitlin Lewis had a great game for LCC. The freshman from Seaside got the start and scored 14 points with six rebounds and four assists. She also played tremendous defense, as did the entire Red Devil team.

Kaylea Knox had 17 points. Sierra Richards tallied 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals.

The Devils defense led to 22 points off Centralia turnovers.

LCC will head to Aberdeen to play Grays Harbor in a 6 pm game on Wednesday January 28th.  The Devils then make their first appearance in newly remodeled Myklebust Gym on Saturday January 31st.  Come early as there will be a special dedication ceremony prior to the game, featuring former LCC women's players Jessica Grubb-Christian and Lacey Nobles who were instrumental in the ASLCC vote to fund the new Fitness Center.
