Shiny, happy people after s sweep over Clark.
DEVILS WITH A SHINY SWEEP OVER CLARK
They call them the "Shiny's".
The bright shiny red uniforms that the LCC softball team wore when they were in the midst of winning six straight NWAACC titles were busted out on a sunny day in Vancouver on Wednesday April 30th.
Struggling on a losing streak, LCC head coach
Traci Fuller decided to go with the Shiny's and the Devils responded with a double header sweep over Clark. The scores were 8-0 and 6-2. "It was more about our players coming out in the sunshine and getting the job done", said LCC head coach
Traci Fuller. "But the players were excited to bring out those old uniforms."
In game one, the Devils jumped out to a 3-0 in the top of the first. Starting pitcher
Julia Breidt gave up a leadoff double, but that was the only hit she would surrender. The Devils provided plenty of offense as
Haley Hibbs was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
Ashley Wells,
Anne Binschus, Ku'uliea Siolo,
Chelsey Miller and
Jessica McDonald all had 2 hits each.
In game two,
Sonny Dorhofer worked around 5 walks and 7 hits to allow only 2 runs in the complete game victory. The Devils again jumped out to a 3 run lead after the first inning but the offense went stale after that. Clinging to a 3-2 lead after 6 innings, LCC exploded for 3 runs on 5 consecutive hits in the 7th.
Miller and McDonald led the way with 2 hits and 2 RBI's each.
April Wells, Hibbs and Siolo also had 2 hits each.
Cassidy Harding came up with a clutch pinch hit in the 7th.
With the wins, the Devils are now just one game out of 4th place in the tough South Region. LCC is 4-10 in league, right behind 5-9 Chemeketa. The teams will meet Saturday in Salem for a huge double header.
The Devils have added a non-league single game Friday night at the Linfield JV's in McMinnville, Oregon.
