PIERCE TAKES TWO FROM LCC AT STORY FIELD
The Pierce Raiders hit the ball and took advantage of numerous Red Devil miscues in a double header sweep Monday April 29th at Story Field.
The Raiders won 8-6 and 7-2.
After LCC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the first game, Cobi Beal settled down and went six innings to get the win for the Raiders. Jacob Cogar started for LCC and gave up seven hits and three runs in four innings. Kyle Rossman was tagged with the loss after going 2 1/3, giving up four runs and four hits. Gabe Ihrig was effective in relief and he allowed just one run in 2 2/3 innings.
Justin Jacobs went 4 for 5 with three runs scored. Makaio Mobbs hit a solo homer for the Devils.
In game two, the Devils were down 2-1 in the top of the sixth when Luke Heyer hit a grand slam off losing pitcher Tyler Gulbransen.
The Devil offense went silent against the Raiders, collecting just four hits, all singles.
The Devils were their own worst enemies as baserunning mistakes in both games squelched rallies.
LCC will try and flush the twinbill and get ready for the red hot Tacoma Titans this weekend. The teams will meet at Tacoma CC Saturday at 1 pm. The series then shifts to Longview for a Sunday double header at 1 pm.
