RED DEVILS AND RAIDERS SPLIT IN THE RAIN

The Lower Columbia College Red Devils had masterful pitching, but the offense was hit and miss in a double header split at Pierce on Sunday April 27th.

There were plenty of hits for LCC in game one, as the Devils pounded out 19 hits in an 8-1 victory over the Raiders.  But the offense was held in check in the nightcap as LCC could muster just six hits in a 1-0 loss to Pierce.

Jeremy Rabauliman was outstanding in the first game as he allowed just one run and five hits before a rain delay ended his day in the 7th inning. Rabauliman struck out 8.  Kyle Rossman threw 1 2.3 innings of one-hit ball and Seth Pedersen pitched a perfect 9th inning.

Offensively there were a lot of stars for LCC.  Peter Leece was 4 for 5 with two RBI's including a two run double in the 9th. Cooper Mickelson was 3 for 5 with two doubles.  Michel Forgione, Justin Jacobs, Trevor Lane and Tanner Marty each had two hits in the onslaught.

The Devils should have saved a few of those hits in the second game.  Jacobs had two singles to lead the way, but Raider pitcher Ryan Schmitten was tough.  Hunter Wells was equally good except for one mistake.  The freshman right hander gave up just four hits in a complete game 6 innings. But Wells first pitch of the 5th inning was hit over the leftfield fence by Jared Prather. The homer accounted for the games lone run.

The Devils and Raiders will close out the season series Monday April 28th at Story Field. The first game gets underway at 4:00 pm.
