Sierra Richards had a big offensive weekend in Mt. Vernon.
DEVILS TAKE 3 OF 4 AT SKAGIT CROSSOVER
The Lower Columbia softball team took a break from South Region play by winning three of four games at the Skagit Valley Crossover tournament in Mt. Vernon Saturday and Sunday April 12-13.
The Devils opened the tournament with an 11-3, six inning victory over Columbia Basin. Leading the offense was
Sierra Richards, who hit a homerun and drove in three runs.
April Wells,
Ashley Wells,
Anne Binschus and
Chelsey Miller all had two hits each. It was all in support of winning pitcher
Julia Breidt, who tossed a complete game four-hitter with five strikeouts.
Later Saturday, LCC defeated Walla Walla 4-3. The Devils plated two runs in the top of the last inning to get the win.
April Wells had two hits and
Maddy Hanna had a double.
Amber Gilbert came on to provide four innings of scoreless relief to get the victory.
Sunday the Devils lost to Spokane by a score of 7-5. The Sasquatch had one big inning, plating five runs in the 4th. Breidt took the loss, allowing four runs in 3 2/3 innings. Leading the LCC offense featured homers by
Ku'ulei Siolo and
Jessica McDonald.
The Red Devils capped the tourney with a 7-5 victory over Everett.
Sonny Dorhofer was the winner as she pitched four innings of relief. Richards had a big game with three hits and three RBI's including two homers.
The Devils return to South Region play Saturday April 19th when the head to Oregon City to take on the Clackamas Cougars in a 12 pm double header.
