The usually potent Lower Columbia softball bats were silenced in a pair of losses to Chemeketa on Wednesday April 9th.

Storm pitcher Jessica Hotaling did a great job, collecting a pair of wins, 1-0 and 11-3.

Game one was a pitching duel between Hotaling and Red Devil freshman Amber Gilbert. The game was scoreless through six innings, until Chemeketa pinch hitter Tammy Medley came through with an RBI single. Hotaling then held down the Devils in the bottom of the 7th to complete the win.

The Storm went longball in the second game, slugging three dingers. Destinee Chang hit two 2-run homers and drove in six runs.  It was a rough outing for Devil starter Julia Breidt, who gave up six runs in 2 2/3 innings.  Gilbert was also touched for five runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Anne Binschus had two hits and an RBI. Ashley Wells had two doubles. Lexie Rodriguez had an RBI single.

The Devils drop to 2-3 in league play as they get ready to travel to Mount Vernon for the Skagit Cross-Over this Saturday and Sunday.
