APRIL SHOWERS HITS, DEVILS TAKE 3 OF 4
After a week delay, the 2014 Lower Columbia College softball team got the season underway by taking three of four games at the Inter-Region event at the RAC Complex in Lacey Friday March 7th and 9th.
The Devils opened play Friday against South Puget Sound, taking a 3-2 victory.
Amber Gilbert got the win in the circle.
Jessica McDonald hit a home run and
April Wells began what would be a weekend full of hits by getting two against the Clippers.
Friday night the Devils pounded Big Bend 15-5.
April Wells had three more hits to lead the way.
Anne Binschus had two hits including a homer.
Chelsey Miller had three hits.
Lexie Rodriguez added two hits.
Saturday, the Devils two scheduled games were rained out. The Devils were able to get three innings in against Highline with
Julia Breidt pitching well and
Ku'ulei Siolo hitting a homer. But the stats were wiped out with the soaking rain.
Conditions were much better Sunday with the Devils splitting two games. Bellevue defeated the Devils 8-2.
April Wells stayed hot with two more hits and McDonald also had two safeties.
The D's concluded the weekend with a 5-4 victory over Centralia. Binschus had two hits and two RBI. April added two more with an RBI and twin sister
Ashley Wells had two hits and an RBI as well.
Sonny Dorhofer went 3 2/3 innings to get the win, allowing just one hit. Breidt went 3 1/3 and gave up just three hits, collecting the save.
April Wells had nine basehits in the four games.
The Devils take a break before they take part in the Inter-Regional tourney at Delta Park in Portland beginning March 21st.
